Paemanu Summer Art Residencies 2025/26 

E rere te manu, ki te mau i te rau.... o te reo rāhiri ki te hunga e whai pānga ana, ki a koe te ringatoi.
 

Paemanu: Ngāi Tahu Contemporary Visual Arts (Paemanu Charitable Trust) pursue a vision to cultivate a vibrant Kāi Tahu visual culture for future generations by exploring Kāi Tahutaka through contemporary visual art.
 

Paemanu is proud to support four Paemanu Summer Artists Residencies for 2025/26 in partnership with
The Ngāi Tahu Fund.
It is the aim of these residencies for artists to deepen whakapapa connections, with hapū and marae, to meet with kaumātua and cultural experts of those communities. This is a self-directed project, the residencies will provide opportunities for research and development which should enrich your practice.

Individual or collaborative expressions of interest are welcome.
 

We encourage you to apply for this opportunity that could forge lasting relationships for you and your mahi toi(art practice).A panel of trustees and senior arts practitioners will award the residencies at the end of September.

Kaupapa/purpose 

It is your project, for your cultural and creative development.
Use this opportunity to learn more mātauraka Kāi Tahu and increase your understanding of your whakapapa so that this may be expressed through your arts practice and artforms.
It is an opportunity to return and be present in your takiwā.
